Avery's 1 st Birthday

We had a small family party for Avery's first birthday.   It was a great time for all of us.  I made a teddy bear shaped cake for the party.  I made a smaller bear cake for Avery that he could tear apart.  Avery really liked his birthday cake as you can see by the pictures.  He didn't eat the whole thing.  He also tried jello for the first time.  He got some very nice presents for his birthday.  He got a dozer he can push around and a cute little farm.  Jody and I got him an outdoor swing.  He seem to really like it.

Jennifer tagged us awhile back but we have been a little delinquent in updating our blog.  Here is our 4th pic from the 4th file.  It is Avery in his stroller on our trip to see his Grandma B, Grandpa Willy, and Uncle Chad in Missouri this past August.  I won't tag anyone else because I don't think anyone else we know with blogs keeps up with ours...maybe I'm wrong, though.

Our Trip to Missouri

We took Avery on his first vacation in late August.  We went to Lake

Ozark Missouri to see my parents and older brother Chad.

  Avery got fussy in the car every now and then, but it was understandable 

considering it took over 14 hours to get there.

We went to a park near my parents house.  Avery had a 

good time on the swings.

Avery Started Cereal This Week

Avery really enjoys his cereal. We started the cereal on Saturday and he is already eating like a pro. He opens his mouth when he wants more or when he sees the spoon. He will try his first Veggie tonight. I am going to be making homemade baby food for him. I made my first batch of butternut squash the other night and it turned out pretty good. One squash made 16 2 oz jars worth of food. This will really save us money in the long run. I am planning on buying only organic fruits and veggies to make his food. Jody is planning on starting a garden in the fall so that will help us out too.

We have learned that we need to keep his hands under the tray
to keep him from grabbing the spoon.
